Android pairing

Why can I not connect my Android phone/tablet with my Novy device?

Since Android hardware varies widely, compatibility is not assured for all Android devices. If you are not able to connect, you can try following possible solutions:

Solution 1: Check Android version

Check that your operating system installed on your phone/tablet is Android 5.0 (API 21) or higher.

  • Open the Settings menu of your phone
  • Select “About phone” or “About device”
  • Select “Software information”
  • Your Android version should be 5.0 (API 21) or higher. If not, install the latest Android version on your phone.

Solution 2: Bluetooth off/on

  • Close the Novy app.
  • Turn your Bluetooth OFF and then ON again.
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect.

Solution 3: restart smartphone/tablet

  • Restart your smartphone/tablet
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect

Solution 4: Remove all paired devices

  • Open the Settings menu of your phone
  • Tap on Bluetooth
  • When your Bluetooth is ON you will see a list of devices you ever paired with
  • Press the settings icon next to each device and unpair the device
  • Do this for all devices until your device list is empty
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect

Solution 5: Clear Bluetooth cache

  • Open the Settings menu of your phone
  • Select “Apps"
  • Display system apps (you may need to either swipe left/right or choose from the menu in the top right corner)
  • Select “Bluetooth” from the list
  • Stop the application forcefully by tapping on “Force Stop”
  • Select “Storage”
  • Tap “Clear Cache”
  • Go back
  • Finally restart the phone
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect

Solution 6: Clear Bluetooth data

Be aware that after clearing the Bluetooth data, you will have to pair all your Bluetooth devices again. Clearing Bluetooth data removes any corrupt file which might cause the connection problem.

  • Tap “Clear Data”
  • Confirm that you want to clear the bluetooth data
  • Go back
  • Restart the phone
  • Switch Bluetooth on
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect

Solution 7: Reset network settings

Resetting network settings won't delete any of your apps, photos or other data. However, be aware that it will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth connections.

  • Open the Settings menu of your phone
  • Select “General management” or “System”
  • Select “Reset” or “Reset options”
  • Select “Reset network settings”
  • Confirm that you want to reset your network settings
  • Restart the phone
  • Open the Novy app and try to reconnect
